"We Are The Mods!" - Visual Diary - Michael Railton

This is an image i created for my visual diary in semester one and then scanned and uploaded onto here. The reason i made this image is because i'm very much inspired by 80's music and fashion.
This image is all about iconography. Firstly the target logo in the background has been used for a number of things. It's most known for its use as the RAF logo and is still used now a days. However the 'Mod' movement in the 70's and 8o's saw it be adapted by the youth of this movement as their logo. This could arguably be an example of post modernism as they're reusing this logo for a different purpose then it was originally intended for.
The secon piece of iconography we see in this scan, is the image of 'Paul Weller', who is also known as the 'Modfather'. The reason i used this was because like his adapted name suggests, he was the face of the 'Mod Movement'. Even the name the 'Modfather' is an example of postmodernism.
The writing ("We Are The Mods!") is from one of my favourite films, Quadrophenia, and i felt it summed up the youth movement as a collective rather than individual, which is why i used it.
